This is a brass Williams 5601 O Gauge Norfolk & Western BRASS 4-8-4 J Class Steam Locomotive & Tender from 1990. This is a 1/4 inch to the foot scale model of the famous Norfolk and Western Steam Locomotive that was operational until the mid-1990s. Features include operating marker lights, all brass boiler construction, an operating backup light and an operating smoke unit. It operates on O-72 track.

First introduced in the early 20th century, the 4-8-4 to rail yards by storm primarily hauling coal and other forms of freight across state lines in the US and rail-ways in various other countries. While later models would improve on the 4-8-4’s limitation, this locomotive still made its place in history as a pioneer of 20th century rail-road industry, and is featured in some museums today as a testament to how far the industry has truly come!

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The wheels show light run-time. The knuckle coupler on the tender in this set has been removed and is included.
